Powdery mildew, also known as Oïdium, is a fungal disease that can devastate your crops if left unchecked. Here are some tips to effectively prevent it:
1️⃣ Maintain an optimal VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit): Ensure it doesn’t drop below 0.8, especially at night. This helps limit excessive humidity, which is favorable to fungal growth.
2️⃣ Ensure proper air circulation: Keep your fans, dehumidifiers, and air conditioners running consistently. Constant air exchange reduces the risk of fungal spores settling and spreading.
3️⃣ Regular cleaning: Thoroughly clean your grow rooms with appropriate products. For instance, chlorine dioxide gas can be used to eliminate spores in the environment, but ensure your ventilation systems are operating during this process.
⚠️ Never clean your buds with sodium bicarbonate: Some methods suggest dipping buds in bicarbonate water to “save” a harvest affected by powdery mildew. In reality, this severely damages your flowers. If mildew is present on your buds, they are irreparably compromised.
💡 Prevention is key: With rigorous practices, you can avoid this issue altogether. High-quality buds should never come into contact with powdery mildew. Contaminated flowers are no longer consumable.
Take care of your plants 🌿 and keep your garden healthy!
